TRU Simulation + Training is unveiling its Cessna 172 Skyhawk-configured Veris VR flight training device at NBAA-BACE 2026

TRU Simulation + Training is debuting its Cessna Skyhawk Veris VR flight training device at the 2026 National Business Aviation Association Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition. Attendees can experience the device first-hand through live demonstrations at booth #3415.

The show debut builds on momentum from the previous year's event. It aims to address the growing demand for pilots with a cost-effective and compact solution.

Technology and Configuration

The Cessna Skyhawk Veris combines immersive virtual reality technology with advanced Full Flight Simulator features. Its fully configured cockpit replicates Cessna Skyhawk instrumentation and controls with high fidelity.

The device incorporates authentic Garmin G1000 NXi avionics with wireless connectivity. It leverages Unreal Engine for its immersive VR environments. A motion system provides realistic flight cues.

Students can train with or without the virtual reality headset. The dual-seat configuration allows instructors and students to train together from either the left or right seat.

Training Capabilities and Compliance

The device accommodates training credit for all licensing phases from private pilot through flight instructor. It is designed to meet Federal Aviation Administration Level 7 Flight Training Device standards.

This provides a pathway for high-quality training. Upon qualification, the device will expand TRU Simulation’s Veris product line into the fixed-wing training market.

Market Context and Background

The Cessna 172 Skyhawk is the most popular aircraft in aviation history and remains the aircraft of choice for pilot training. Since its first flight in 1955, more than 45,000 units have been delivered to customers in over 40 countries.

At NBAA-BACE 2025, TRU Simulation announced a purchase agreement with US Aviation Academy for five Cessna Skyhawk Veris devices. The agreement included options for additional units beyond the initial five.

Strategic Significance

US Aviation Academy is the launch customer for this fixed-wing version. The academy is a leading training organization providing professional pilot, aircraft maintenance, dispatcher, and remote pilot training across worldwide campuses.

The device leverages Textron Aviation's legacy. Textron Aviation has been inspiring the journey of flight for nearly 100 years. Its workforce has produced more than half of all general aviation aircraft worldwide. TRU Simulation + Training Inc. is a Textron Inc. Company and an affiliate of Textron Aviation.

The Skyhawk aircraft itself features several modern elements that the simulator replicates.
